1장: 우리의 성약은 탐욕을 버리고 신성한 속성에 참여하는 것임. 너희 신앙에 덕과 지식과 인내와 사랑을 더하라. 부름과 택함을 확실하게 하라. 성도를 일깨워 항상 기억하게 하라. 예언의 말씀에 관해 더욱 확실한 지식에 주의를 기울이라. 예언은 하나님의 사람이 성령의 감동으로 말하는 것임.
Our covenant is the forsaking of covetousness and participation in the divine nature. Add to your faith virtue, knowledge, patience and love. Make your calling and election sure. Awaken the saints to always reme-mber. Pay attention to a more sure knowledge of the words of prophecy. Prophecy is spoken by men of God, who are moved by the Holy Ghost
2장: 우리 가운데 있는 거짓 교사로 인해 진리의 길이 비난 받을 것임. 죄지은 천사. 노아의 홍수. 소돔과 고모라. 낮 동안의 방탕을 즐거움으로 여기는 자들. 간음으로 가득 찬 눈. 브올의 아들 발람. 씻었다가 더러움으로 돌아간 개와 돼지의 비유.
By reason of the false teachers among us the way of truth shall be evil spoken of. The angels that sinned. Noah's flood. Sodom and Gomorrah. Those who regard debauchery during the day as a pleasure. Eyes full of adultery. Balaam son of Beor. The parable of the dog and the pig who washed and returned to dirt.
3장: 마지막 날에 조롱하는 자들이 와서 자기 탐욕을 좇아 행할 것임. 세상은 물로 멸망했으며 불살라지기를 기다림. 주께는 하루가 천 년 같고 천 년이 하루 같음. 주는 아무도 멸망하지 않고 모두 회개하기를 원하심. 주의 날은 밤에 도둑처럼 올 것임. 땅이 뜨거운 열기로 가득 차고, 모든 부패하는 일들이 불에 탈 것임. 너희는 어떠한 사람이 되어야 하겠느냐? 주가 오는 날을 준비하고 있느냐? 새 하늘과 새 땅을 바라보라. 점이나 흠 없이 발견될 수 있도록 힘쓰라. 바울의 편지에 대해 언급함. 경전을 왜곡하고 멸망에 이르는 자들. 악한 자의 잘못에 이끌려 떨어지지 않도록 조심하라.
In the last days there shall come scoffers, walking after their own lusts. The world is destroyed by water and waiting to be burned. To the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years is like a day. The Lord desires that no one perish, but that all repent. The day of the Lord will come like a thief in the night. The earth shall be filled with fervent heat, and the corruptible works which are therein shall be burned up. What manner of persons ought ye to be? Are you preparing for the day when the Lord comes? Look to the new heavens and the new earth. Strive to be found without spot or blemish. References to Paul's letters. Those who pervert the scriptures, unto their own destruction. Be careful not to be led away by the error of the evil one, and fall.
